Shoutout to Thomas Whigham for the call we had yesterday. SPOILER: it was amazing I've come quite far in my personal development journey: thanks to the amazing people i met and i got coached from i've been having chain epiphanies about life for the last year, in which i took a bootcamp with Thomas himself, then did an immersion with the Social Prime crew, and now i've been taking shamanic remedies (a.k.a. super powerful psychedelics) with another company for the last 6 months. I've been to very deep places and even if i know there's always more shit to uncover about myself, i was quite curious to see how Thomas would have surprised me this time. Of course he did, CALL REPORT: (disclaimer: many of the insights given here were delivered and received at an emotional level, so it's difficult to transfer them via text on Facebook. Trust the fact that what you find here was quite mindblowing for me, especially in the peculiar way thomas expresses it) 1) Transcendence =/= Self-Actualization Transcendence of the Self is when you develop your awareness enough to notice that your essence is not really bound to the self you have. Essentially, you're not your mind, nor your body, nor your memories nor your emotions. When you reach this state, it becomes obvious that whatever happens, everything is fine. Essentially, you're not the character, but the player, like in an RPG. I got this already before the call. What was not clear (and i was not even aware this was a blank spot for me) is how this links to the Self-Actualization, which is bringing your Self to its highest potential. This is like maxing out the characteristics of a character in an RPG and completing your main quest. Meaning: develop your strenght, ability to love, knowledge, wisdom and so on and fulfilling your life purpose. Before the call, i was not aware of this difference, i tended to make them collide. I can now see everything has a place, and how transcendence can facilitate reaching the place of Love but real work must be done in earthly life to max out the character. Indeed, if you can't "max out", it's fine anyway. 2) Fear should be proportionate, not in the driving seat Fear is what usually blocks Love. Fear of being hurt, abused, misunderstood, not appreciated and so on often prevents us from becoming vulnerable, opening up the heart and receive what the universe has to offer. Fear of snakes and falling off a cliff is fine, fear of vulnerability is misplaced, and should be brought back to proportion. Personally, i still have some fears and concerns about my survival and safety (these run very deep in our biology), but the way they often manifest is counterproductive and stops me from taking serious consistent action. Loving fear for bringing stuff to my attention, and no more than this, is a good way to address the issue. 3) Life is made of Love and pain dancing Opening up to receive love also makes us vulnerable to pain. Pain is the reason why we close up. Better, our inability to appreciate pain and be grateful for it is what prevents us from getting and giving love aswell. We don't need to like pain, that's masochism. But we shouldn't either avoid it. Accepting it is the way. Appreciating pain and being ready to experience it is the safest mindset there is, as I found out for myself yesterday. In the end, I am grateful for the wonderful life that i had the pleasure to live, adn for the pain that made me what i am. Thanks Tom, hear from you next time!
