Coaching

Real coaching doesn’t judge life’s dramas, it doesn’t judge the causes and conditions leading to them, and it has no fear of the outcomes. Real coaching is about clarity, going from darkness to light.

Real coaching is life coaching, but not the kind that says optimize this way, build this habit, tweak this thing, do shadow work! Real coaching is clearly seeing life as it is naturally unfolding, as it really is.

Strategies, behavioral optimizations, and psychological help is useful. “Get up 15 minutes earlier and sit in open awareness to start the day” is useful. And while all of this may occur during coaching sessions, what is really happening is that life becomes lived consciously.

Seeing and experiencing all the feelings, seeing how those feelings guide behavior, and seeing life as a drama to help expose us to our unconscious…

Real coaching is going from unclear to clear, dark to light, through the naturally arising drama of life as experience, through the energetics of the nervous system, through the bounded patterning of psychology, and, eventually, through inner heart awareness.

This kind of coaching is vital. It makes every situation a positive situation. Difficult, painful, and unfair realities become opportunities for clarity and expansiveness. Life becomes the teacher, and the real coach is just a translator and relational support system.

Thomas Whigham’s coaching centers on developing a more loving relationship with yourself and bringing that into the way you live. Whether you’re struggling with confidence, relationships, or a sense of direction, Tom begins with your individual experience. Through caring, direct conversation, everyday challenges become opportunities to understand yourself more clearly and recognize what matters to you.

A central part of the work is learning to meet difficult feelings with acceptance and compassion. Through reflection, meditation, and guided practices, Tom helps you explore how shame, fear, and self-judgment influence your choices. His teaching encourages you to feel what’s happening, make room for it, and discover how to respond with greater self-love. These themes also run through his From Inadequacy to Self-Love interview (opens in a new tab).

In relationships, this work becomes practical: expressing your needs and desires, setting boundaries, having difficult conversations, and becoming more open to giving and receiving love. Tom connects confidence with emotional honesty, self-respect, and care for others. Dating and partnership become opportunities to understand your patterns and deepen your capacity for intimacy, a focus of his conversation with Louis Brantmeyer (opens in a new tab).

Rooted in the teachings of Neem Karoli Baba, Tom’s approach brings together love, devotion, and service. That spiritual foundation extends into questions of purpose: what you care about, what you want to build, and how you can share your gifts with others. The invitation is to carry what you discover into everyday life through meaningful work, personal responsibility, and the way you care for the people around you.

Unconditional love for the person

Many coaches love the way they coach (answers, methods, awareness), and they love helping people, more than they love the people they help.

I start from a space of unconditional love for a person; a deep surrender to them, not a process.

Love contradiction chaos and messiness too

Questions

What is Tom’s coaching like?

I like Tom’s coaching style in that he’s really good at meeting you where you are at without having any sort of agenda. He genuinely cares for his clients and wants the best for them and you can feel that coming from him. Also him and Barine give great relationship advice! Like the best you’ll probably ever get from anyone.

I’m on a tight budget. What coaching package should I go with?

Because I was on a tighter budget myself when I started, I liked the group calls initially before diving into one on one coaching. I will say that the one-on-one coaching has had the most drastic and impactful influence on my life, and it’s been worth every penny. Thomas has really helped me level up in so many ways, and the structure of one-on-one coaching really allows for specific, tailored guidance.

Coaching shaped around the individual

We see mentoring / coaching differently in this group than I usually see it presented by other coaches. This isn’t about a system, but sometimes you develop extensive new habits. This isn’t about believing what I believe, but people do find an entire new set of beliefs and experiences from this work.

Not everyone absorbs the same things from this work and the “results” have been incredibly varied; some get raises, some change careers, some added new jobs on top of existing careers, some found their dream job and finally pursued it. Then

Others loved the jobs they had more. Some still don’t enjoy their work That’s a good example. This work is different and unique because you are. What you are capable of, and how much you grow. That’s what I focus on
