I used to be quite an academic in my past and Stephen Wolfram was one of the few intelligences I had an abiding respect for. This latest paper is a wonderful western take on consciousness and I agree with it

Not least because it’s the first time I’ve seen western science account for siddhis (spiritual powers) in a compelling way; namely that an “alien” intelligence (different consciousness) would be naturally subject to a different physics and experience different physical laws — specifically any consciousness freed from the bounds of “sequence” and, for example, experiencing reality as parallel “branchial [branching] paths”
